UNICEF‘s aim is to protect the lives of children around the globe. Beyond Borders Media partnered with UNICEF for their #EveryChildAlive campaign. This campaign focuses on eradicating preventable deaths for children under 1 month old. This can be done with easy-to-implement solutions. We went around the planet to showcase challenges and impact of UNICEF’s work in this field.

Our team traveled to Pakistan, Nigeria, Nepal and Tanzania, capturing stories of mothers and health workers. From cities to remote areas. During this campaign we created video, photography and text stories. Some of the projects’ results can be seen hereafter.

UNICEF and baby challenges

One of the main challenges in this project was coordinating the logistics with the delivery of babies on-site, which is difficult to schedule anyway.

Sufficient buffer was built in for this to work well. This meant we had enough time on-location to film. And, in some case, do some editing as well.

The first video production was an overarching campaign flagship video. Below, we have displayed more of the individual video stories and photography we made. For each video story, we also produced a written human interest article.

Challenging Timing

Capturing these intense moments with new-born children was not always easy. You are working on their agenda; most of the time the baby is not awake, and when it is, a new-born is looking for food. Shooting engaging video and photography material for this project meant we had to be on constant standby. Timing our moment.
