Small islands are on the frontline in climate change. They are the first to receive a big hit, and they have little capacity to combat the effects of climate change to their land. UNOPS is supporting Small Island Development States (SIDS) in order to become more resilient. This is done through various tactics; increasing capacity of local governments, helping to initiate water management plans and facilities and to inform local residents.

Capturing the efforts of UNOPS, Beyond Borders Media travelled to Sao Tome e Principe, Cape Verde, Comoros, Mauritius, Seychelles and Maldives. On-site we aimed to capture the unique features of each island, to contextualize different countries with different challenges. And, we captured the story of a resident aiming to improve the situation. For this assignment, BBM created tailored video and photography. All videos were created in English, French and Portuguese.
